Running Rabbits : chantier d'avenir

Lors de son premier séjour de création, Noémie Payant-Hébert est à la recherche de jeunes entre 8 et 12 ans ayant une bonne capacité à communiquer pour participer au tournage de son projet.

L’installation filmique Running Rabbits : Chantier d’avenir s’applique à concilier les discours et langages propres à la vidéo, au cinéma et à l’installation et cherche à incarner l’insaisissable fiction cinématographique dans une réalité tangible, hors-cadre, inspirée du chantier forestier et du lot à bois!
En résidence à Daïmon, deux composantes vidéo ainsi qu’une trame sonore ambiophonique seront développées pour venir par la suite s’insérer dans l’installation filmique. Intéressée par la notion de projection d’images animées comme possibilité d’extension dramatique et fictionnelle des réalités matérielles, Noémie travaillera la vidéo et le son notamment sous l’angle du paysage numérique et de l’habillage sonore.
Ce projet est réalisé avec le soutien du Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec.
Noémie Payant-Hébert détient une maîtrise en arts orientée vers la vidéo, l’installation et le décor et un baccalauréat en cinéma et vidéo de l’Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. Intéressée à développer la notion de cinéma gris, elle cherche par sa pratique une conciliation possible entre les langages filmiques et plastiques. Son travail a été présenté lors d’expositions solo et collectives notamment au Québec et dans divers festivals consacrés aux courts-métrages tels que le Festival Regard sur le court métrage au Saguenay (Saguenay 2006), Vidéastes Recherchés (Québec 2005), l’EICV (Montréal 2004), elle est aussi l’une des 4 membres actifs et fondateurs du collectif d’artistes Cédule 40 (ORANGE, Centre Sagamie, Québec 400e, Festival international de Jardins de Métis). Travaillant aussi en décors et accessoires, elle a participé à diverses productions cinématographiques et télévisuelles : «Trajectoires» (Geneviève Poulette, Montréal 2007), «Fumée sans feu» (Roger Laliberté, Saguenay 2006), «Rumeurs» et «Un monde à part» (2005, Sphère Média Montréal).

The film installation Running Rabbits: Chantier d’avenir endeavours to reconcile the discourses and languages proper to video, cinema and installation and is an attempt to embody cinema’s elusive fiction in a tangible, off-screen reality inspired by the logging chance and the woodlot!
While in residence at DAÏMÕN, Noémie will develop two video tracks and an ambiophonic soundtrack, which will later be incorporated into the film installation. Her interest in the projection of moving images as a possible dramatic and fictional extension of material reality leads her to work the video and sound in light of the digital landscape and sound decor in particular.

Noémie Payant-Hébert holds a Master’s degree in visual arts, with a focus on video, installation and set design, and a Bachelor’s degree in cinema and video from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. She is interested in developing the concept of cinéma gris (“grey cinema”) and seeks in her work to reconcile film language and that of the visual arts. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions, particularly in Quebec, and in various short-film festivals such as the Festival Regard sur le court métrage (Saguenay, 2006), Vidéastes Recherchés (Quebec City, 2005) and EICV (Montreal, 2004). She is also one of four active members and founders of the artists’ collective Cédule 40, whose work has been shown at ORANGE, the Centre Sagamie, the celebrations for Quebec City’s 400th anniversary and the Reford Gardens’ International Garden Festival. She also works in set design and costuming on a number of film and television productions, including “Trajectoires” (Geneviève Poulette, Montreal, 2007), “Fumée sans feu” (Roger Laliberté, Saguenay, 2006) and “Rumeurs” and “Un monde à part” (2005, Sphère Média, Montreal).
